Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced the Groundbreaking Ceremony for its hydrogen innovation center at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave in Chennai. The facility, developed in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and Guidance Tamil Nadu, is set to drive innovation in hydrogen technology. The project received virtual ground-breaking by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and other dignitaries. The center, located within the IIT Madras Thaiyur campus on the outskirts of Chennai, will span 65,000 sq. ft. Hyundai's commitment to sustainable practices is evident in this initiative, aiming to advance hydrogen as an eco-friendly propulsion source for mass mobility solutions. The strategic partnership with IITM and Guidance Tamil Nadu is geared towards accelerating hydrogen ecosystem development and adoption in Tamil Nadu and India. The center is expected to be operational by 2026 and is poised to significantly contribute to the growth of hydrogen technology in the region. By fostering innovations and creating a supportive ecosystem for startups and researchers, the hydrogen innovation center is set to play a pivotal role in driving advancements in alternate fuels. This initiative not only aligns with HMIL's global vision but also with the goal of reducing Tamil Nadu's carbon footprint and nurturing a skilled workforce for the emerging hydrogen economy.
