Hyundai Motor India has revealed plans to establish a Hydrogen Innovation Centre at IIT Madras's Thaiyur campus in Chennai, with an investment of Rs 180 crore. The Centre, to be constructed on a 65,000 sq ft plot, will be pivotal in advancing hydrogen technology research and development. The foundation stone for the Centre was laid during the Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, signaling Hyundai Motor India's dedication to enhancing Tamil Nadu's automotive innovation. The collaboration between Hyundai Motor India Ltd., Guidance Tamil Nadu, and IIT Madras aims to expedite the growth of hydrogen technology in India, aligning with the goal of creating a sustainable automotive ecosystem. The Centre will focus on key areas including electrolysis technology for green hydrogen production, manufacturing process localization, and supply chain enhancements. It will also house a fuel cell test station and pilot demonstrators. Hyundai Motor India Ltd's commitment to supporting Tamil Nadu's sustainable future is evident through the Centre, which is envisioned to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen mobility in the state.
