The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in India has been pivotal in advancing research and development within the automotive sector. With a rich portfolio of 27 innovative technologies and holding 9 patents, ICAT has demonstrated a strong commitment to automotive engineering excellence. Through collaborations with 40 domestic and international entities, including esteemed academic institutions like IITs and international organizations like IDIADA-Spain, ICAT has fostered a robust R&D ecosystem. Moreover, the Government of India has introduced key schemes like PLI-Auto, SPMEPCI, FAME India Phase-II, and PM E-DRIVE to attract foreign investment and bolster India's presence in the global electric vehicle and hydrogen fuel cell market. These schemes aim to enhance manufacturing capabilities, promote electric vehicle production, and support the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles. Furthermore, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, led by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, is driving the deployment of Green Hydrogen as a fuel in buses and trucks through pilot projects. With a focus on R&D, including the development of fuel cells, the mission aims to establish India as a global hub for Green Hydrogen production, usage, and export. Overall, ICAT's initiatives and government schemes are poised to drive innovation and growth in India's automotive and allied domains.
