Tecnimont Private Limited and NEXTCHEM have jointly announced the inauguration of India's first green hydrogen production plant at GAIL Vijaipur, located in Madhya Pradesh. The project, awarded in May 2022, signifies a major advancement towards sustainable energy solutions in the country. With a capacity to produce 4.3 tons per day of green hydrogen through ten megawatt-based electrolysers, the plant establishes GAIL as the pioneer in megawatt-scale green hydrogen production in India. This development aligns with India's ambitious hydrogen mission, aiming to achieve 5 million tons of annual green hydrogen capacity by 2030 and striving for energy independence by 2047 and Net Zero by 2070. Green hydrogen is recognized as a key element for the energy transition, offering various applications such as renewable energy storage, industrial fuel substitution, and clean transportation. Alessandro Bernini, the MAIRE Group CEO, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting the Group's position in India's energy transition landscape. The Vijaipur green hydrogen plant is set to catalyze further sustainable energy projects in the region, with NEXTCHEM leveraging it as a foundation for future initiatives.
