India and Singapore are strengthening their ties by exploring initiatives in green energy, semiconductor manufacturing, and aerospace during the visit of Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to India. The focus is on setting up a green energy corridor with a specific emphasis on green hydrogen, green shipping, and semiconductor manufacturing. Additionally, discussions involve the establishment of a data corridor between GIFT City in Gujarat and Singapore to facilitate secure financial data exchange. The two countries are also considering collaborations in areas such as industrial parks, petrochemical complexes, and skill development to promote sustainable development and economic cooperation. Moreover, there are plans for cooperation in aerospace Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) to leverage India's potential as a hub for MRO services, especially with the increasing orders for aircraft by Indian airlines. The talks also addressed the situation in Myanmar, emphasizing the importance of regional security and stability, given India's strategic proximity to Myanmar and its shared border with several northeastern states. The ongoing protests in Myanmar, following the military coup, have raised concerns, with a focus on the impact on border security. These discussions reflect the commitment of both countries to enhance cooperation in various sectors for mutual benefit and regional stability.
