India and Denmark are deepening their maritime relations under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership. The collaboration spans various areas, including quality shipping, port state control, maritime training, research and development, piracy, and green maritime technology. Denmark's expertise in sustainable maritime technologies is being shared with India, aligning with India's goals under the Sagarmala initiative and the Maritime India Vision 2030. The MoU signed in 2019 and revised in 2022 now includes a clause for establishing a Centre of Excellence in India to further expertise in green maritime technologies. Danish dignitaries and Indian officials are actively contributing to advancing these initiatives. Both countries are focusing on decarbonization efforts and joint projects on developing hydrogen and ammonia-based fuels for ships. India's Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 aims to decarbonize its ports, while Denmark's success in offshore wind energy is set to contribute to renewable energy solutions in Indian ports. The partnership aims to enhance port infrastructure, shipping capabilities, and set global benchmarks in green maritime practices. The Joint Action Plan outlines continued collaboration on port modernization, green fuel development, and advanced seafarer training, driving innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector.
