The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) highlighted a significant development in renewable energy as India and Japan signed their first project offtake agreement to export green ammonia, signaling India's ambitions to excel in green hydrogen and ammonia production. The agreement, formalized in the presence of Minister Pralhad Joshi, aims to position India as a global leader in green energy production. Sembcorp Industries will oversee green ammonia production in India using renewable energy sources, with Kyushu Electric Power planning to incorporate this ammonia into its energy mix to reduce coal consumption in Japan. Sojitz Corporation will facilitate business connections, while NYK Line will manage maritime transportation from India to Japan. Minister Joshi revealed active tenders for producing green ammonia and green hydrogen, showcasing India's rapid expansion in the green energy sector. The collaboration with Japan not only strengthens India's position in the global green energy market but also emphasizes the nation's dedication to sustainable development and energy self-sufficiency.
