The Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP) Ministerial between India and the US, led by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, focused on driving clean energy innovation, strengthening energy security, and accelerating clean energy transitions. The partnership, spanning technical pillars such as Power and Energy Efficiency, Responsible Oil and Gas, Renewable Energy, Emerging Fuels and Technologies, and Sustainable Growth, aims to promote collaboration in various clean energy sectors. Both sides highlighted the importance of supporting a sustainable energy transition prioritizing reliable, affordable, and clean energy supplies while emphasizing energy trade to support national priorities. Key areas of collaboration include the deployment of emerging clean energy technologies, advancement in renewable energy integration, energy efficiency promotion, and decarbonization efforts. Additionally, the launch of the Renewable Energy Technology Action Platform (RETAP) in 2023 has paved the way for actionable roadmaps in hydrogen, long duration energy storage, offshore wind, and geothermal technologies. The partnership also emphasized the establishment of the National Centre for Hydrogen Safety in India and collaboration on green hydrogen initiatives. Efforts on grid integration, energy storage, smart metering, sustainable aviation fuel, and electrification of vehicles were also highlighted, showcasing a joint commitment towards sustainable and efficient energy systems.
