The Indian Army has partnered with the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to introduce green and sustainable transport solutions. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two entities in New Delhi, emphasizing innovation and sustainable transport. The collaboration includes the introduction of a hydrogen fuel cell bus, showcasing the commitment to clean energy. The hydrogen fuel cell technology converts hydrogen gas into electricity through an electro-chemical process, leaving water vapor as the only by-product for zero emissions. The bus, with a seating capacity of 37 passengers, boasts an impressive mileage on a full tank of hydrogen fuel. Additionally, the Army has initiated a pilot project at Chushul for a green hydrogen-based microgrid power plant, ensuring 24x7 clean electricity for troops in challenging terrains. This initiative highlights the Army's dedication to driving towards a sustainable future through innovative and clean energy solutions.
