Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) handed over a cutting-edge green hydrogen fuel cell bus to the Indian Navy as part of an initiative to promote hydrogen and fuel cell technology for heavy-duty e-mobility. The collaboration between the two entities, aimed at evaluating the use of fuel cell electric buses, was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at Nau Sena Bhawan in New Delhi. The project seeks to assess the performance of fuel-cell electric buses in the challenging climatic conditions of Delhi NCR region, along with analyzing the impact of local fuel and air quality on the fuel-cell systems. Indian Oil, a premier energy company in India, is actively involved in advancing green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Currently, the company operates 15 fuel cell buses in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, with a cumulative mileage of 300,000 kilometers. The collaboration with the Indian Navy signifies a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions. Additionally, Moody's stable outlook for IOCL, reinforced by its robust balance sheet and prominent position in India's energy sector, further cements the company's reputation as a leader in oil refining, marketing, and distribution of petroleum products.
