Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the unveiling of the world's most powerful hydrogen fuel-run train engine by Indian Railways. With an output of 1,200 horsepower, this indigenous technology surpasses existing capacities globally. The minister emphasized that only four countries produce such train engines, with lower horsepower ranging between 500 to 600. Vaishnaw mentioned that the first trial run of the hydrogen train is anticipated soon on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana. He also highlighted the potential for India to leverage this technological advancement for spin-off products like power trains for trucks and tugboats. The minister reiterated the significance of technological self-sufficiency for India and emphasized the need to integrate such innovations into the value chain. Additionally, Vaishnaw discussed plans to transform Odisha into a major Information Technology hub, aiming to initiate the process within the next two to three years. This initiative includes providing proper training to the youth and expediting railway projects worth over Rs 1 lakh crore in Odisha. Furthermore, the Railways will operate a special train from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh for the Maha Kumbh-2025 at Prayagraj.
