Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the foundation ceremony for NTPC Green Energy Ltd's green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on January 8. This initiative kicks off India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and involves an investment of ₹185,000 crore. The project will focus on developing 20 GW of renewable energy capacities and establishing a massive integrated green hydrogen production plant capable of producing 1,500 tons of green hydrogen daily. Additionally, the hub will manufacture 7,500 tons of green hydrogen derivatives including green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel, catering mainly to the export market. The infrastructure includes a chemical storage terminal, port facilities, a transmission corridor, a 7 GW substation, and an 80 million litres per day desalination plant. The site will also feature an effluent treatment plant and other support facilities to ensure operational efficiency. With an estimated completion by 2032, the project is expected to create over 57,000 jobs and provide a significant boost to the local economy, playing a vital role in the socio-economic development of the region and India's renewable energy future.
