Ohmium International, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Breathe Applied Sciences, and Spirare Energy, is establishing India's first CO2-to-green methanol facility. This pioneering project aims to use green hydrogen generated by Ohmium's Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers and CO2 captured from the Singareni Thermal Power Plant to produce green methanol. The process, developed by researchers at Breathe Applied Sciences and JNCASR, highlights the role of Ohmium's PEM electrolyzers in providing the necessary green hydrogen for conversion. Project leaders emphasize the potential of converting CO2 from coal-based thermal power to green methanol in advancing decarbonization and sustainability efforts. The partnership's focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and industry collaboration is evident in the statements from Spirare Energy's CEO Suhas Bhasin and Ohmium International's CEO Arne Ballantine. By producing green methanol, the project contributes to reducing emissions across sectors, including coal-based thermal power, thereby promoting sustainability.
