Oil India Limited (OIL) has taken a significant step towards India's green hydrogen economy by inaugurating the country's first pilot plant for green hydrogen production in Jorhat, Assam. The plant, with an installed capacity of 10 kg per day and utilizing Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) electrolyzer array technology, was commissioned in a record time of 3 months. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri Sushil Chandra Mishra, Chairman, and Managing Director of OIL. The plant is expected to boost green hydrogen production from 10 kg to 30 kg per day in the future. OIL has initiated a collaborative study with IIT Guwahati to assess the blending of green hydrogen with natural gas and its implications on the company's infrastructure. Additionally, there are plans to investigate the commercial viability of the blended fuel for various applications.
