Tecnimont Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Tecnimont (Integrated E&C Solutions), and Nextchem (Sustainable Technology Solutions) have jointly announced the inauguration of India's first green hydrogen production plant at Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh. This plant was developed for GAIL (India) Limited, a state-owned gas utility company, with a capacity of producing 4.3 tons of green hydrogen per day through 10 megawatt-based electrolysers. The collaboration between Tecnimont Private Limited and NEXTCHEM marks a significant milestone in advancing low carbon energy solutions in India. The project at the GAIL Vijaipur plant is in line with India's ambitious Hydrogen Mission, aiming to achieve a capacity of at least 5 million tons of annual green hydrogen production by 2030. This initiative supports India's targets of energy independence by 2047 and Net Zero emissions by 2070. Green hydrogen is viewed as a vital component in the energy transition, offering versatile applications including renewable energy storage, industrial fuel substitution, clean transportation, and potential uses in decentralized power generation, aviation, and marine transport. The Vijaipur Green Hydrogen plant will serve as a reference point for NEXTCHEM to explore further opportunities in India's energy transition landscape. Alessandro Bernini, the CEO of MAIRE Group, expressed pride in this achievement, emphasizing the company's strong positioning in India with a workforce of over 3,000 individuals, enabling the Group to offer sustainable solutions for the national industry's evolving needs.
