The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is taking significant steps to boost hydrogen production, with PSUs aiming to produce over 1 million metric tons of green hydrogen by 2030. Initiatives by CIAL, IOCL, and GAIL showcase India's progress in the sector, with developments such as the first Green Hydrogen plant in the aviation sector, a green hydrogen fuel cell bus, and a hydrogen production plant in Madhya Pradesh. India's strategic vision includes the Green Hydrogen Policy and National Green Hydrogen Mission, with targets set for 2030 to reduce fossil fuel imports, generate jobs, attract investments, and establish India as a significant player in the global green hydrogen market. The country's competitive advantage lies in its low-cost solar energy and robust infrastructure, positioning it well to cater to both domestic and global markets. Despite challenges, India aims to create a thriving hydrogen hub, ensuring economic growth and energy security.
