India's Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, highlighted the nation's favorable conditions for producing Green Hydrogen at the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen in New Delhi. With abundant solar energy resources and a well-developed power grid, India is poised to lead the global demand for green energy. The country has set an ambitious target of 500 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030, attracting substantial investments to support this transition. The government has introduced the Green Hydrogen Policy and the National Green Hydrogen Mission to promote the production of 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030. Initiatives such as waiving inter-state transmission charges and providing incentives for manufacturers aim to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen and ammonia. These efforts are projected to reduce fossil fuel imports, attract investments, and create over 6 lakh jobs in the coming years. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi emphasized the importance of green hydrogen for sustainability and India's global positioning in the market. The integration of green hydrogen into the energy mix and industrial processes is expected to yield significant cost savings and environmental benefits. To achieve these goals, collaboration among stakeholders and industry support are crucial.
