The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has introduced the Scheme Guidelines for the 'Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme - Component II: Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production.' The program aims to boost the production of Green Hydrogen in the country and reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels. The latest tranche, Tranche-II, will have a capacity of 450,000 TPA of Green Hydrogen, with a specific allocation for biomass-based pathways and technology-agnostic pathways. Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will oversee the implementation of this tranche. Bidding for the program will be based on the least average incentive quoted by the bidders, with different capacity limits for different pathways. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, initiated in January 2023, with a substantial budget allocation, is part of India's vision to achieve self-reliance through clean energy. This mission is expected to play a vital role in decarbonising the economy, reducing reliance on fossil fuel imports, and positioning India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market.
