Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen in New Delhi, aiming to position India as a leader in the global green hydrogen ecosystem. The conference, held from September 11-13, 2024, brings together key stakeholders to discuss recent technological advances and foster strategic investments and partnerships to accelerate green hydrogen adoption. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched on January 4, 2023, seeks to develop a 5 Million Metric Ton per year green hydrogen production capacity by 2030 with a total outlay of Rs 19,744 crores. The mission, running from 2023-24 to 2029-30, focuses on promoting green hydrogen production using renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydro power. The conference features prominent figures like Union Ministers and the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. Organized by various ministries and partners including EY and FICCI, the event highlights India's commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, the World Bank's approval of a $1.5 billion loan for the low carbon energy sector further bolsters efforts towards cleaner energy solutions worldwide, aligning with the green hydrogen production objectives.
