The Government of India, through the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has released guidelines for funding testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The aim is to bolster the development of standards and regulatory frameworks for Green Hydrogen in the country. The guidelines address gaps in testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes within the Green Hydrogen value chain. The scheme, with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 200 Crores until the financial year 2025-26, will support the creation of new testing facilities and the upgrading of existing ones to ensure safe and secure operations in Green Hydrogen production and trade. The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) will act as the Scheme Implementation Agency (SIA) for the initiative. The guidelines are part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023 with a substantial allocation of Rs. 19,744 Crores up to FY 2029-30. This mission is aligned with India's goal of achieving self-reliance through clean energy and aims to lead the global clean energy transition. By focusing on developing quality and performance testing facilities, the mission seeks to ensure the quality, sustainability, and safety of Green Hydrogen production. The ultimate objective is to significantly decarbonize the economy, reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a front runner in Green Hydrogen technology and market, contributing to a greener future.
