The Indian government has taken steps to regulate the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by drafting a new AI policy. This policy, open for public suggestions until February 28, aims to prevent the misuse of AI while fostering innovation. Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, highlighted the importance of balancing technology and legal regulations in the AI sector. He mentioned that the policy would only be enforced in cases of AI misuse, ensuring it does not hinder technological advancements. Sood also shed light on India's Green Hydrogen Mission, part of the government's target to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. The mission will involve investments in sectors like steel, transport, pesticides, and shipping, with a planned investment of Rs18,000 crore. Sood discussed the evolution of AI from symbolic AI to the current advancements in generative AI and transformer models. Additionally, he emphasized the significant progress in quantum technology, which is undergoing extensive global research and innovation.
