Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, emphasized India's sustainable vision at the 27th Energy Technology Summit in Bengaluru. He highlighted the significant cost-saving potential through biofuel blending, aiming to save Rs 91,000 crore on import bills that could be redirected to benefit the agricultural sector. Minister Puri expressed confidence in India's progress, stating that the country is on track to achieve the 20 percent biofuel blending target ahead of schedule, securing the second position globally in biofuel blending. As India's refineries transition towards green energy, Minister Puri emphasized the country's path towards green hydrogen. With India's energy demand projected to grow significantly by 2047 and the crude oil refining capacity expanding, reaching a third of the global average, the Minister stressed the importance of doubling efforts to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2070. The Energy Technology Meet, organized by the Centre for High Technology and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, gathered 1200 participants to present 60 papers, showcasing advancements in sustainable energy technologies.
