Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, declared India's advanced position in the green hydrogen sector, asserting that the country surpasses others in this domain. He revealed that the Indian government has initiated a tender for the world's most extensive green ammonia demonstration project, exhibiting India's commitment to sustainable practices. During his visit to a floating solar plant at the Omkareshwar Dam in Khandwa district, Joshi emphasized the progress of offshore wind power projects, with ongoing work in Gujarat and invitations for tenders. The minister highlighted the revolutionary advancements in solar energy, positioning India as a global leader in renewable energy initiatives. The Omkareshwar Dam's solar plant, producing 278 megawatts of power, serves as a notable example by supplying electricity to the Delhi Metro. Joshi envisioned replicating such successful projects nationwide to harness the 90 gigawatts power generation potential and achieve the targets of 500 gigawatts by 2030 and 1800 gigawatts by 2047. Emphasizing the importance of sustainable energy sources, Joshi urged officials, leaders, and energy experts to visit and replicate such projects in regions with large dams to meet India's escalating electricity demands.
