India has taken a significant step towards promoting green hydrogen with the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission in January 2023. The mission aims to establish India as a global leader in the production, usage, and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, stressed the importance of engaging startups and the youth in this green hydrogen ecosystem to achieve India's ambitious target of 5 MMT of green hydrogen by 2030. The upcoming International Conference on Green Hydrogen in September 2024 in New Delhi is set to be a platform for discussions on the green hydrogen value chain to support India's transition to sustainable energy sources. Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla reiterated the necessity of raising awareness, encouraging research and development, and fostering partnerships, particularly with the US, to drive the nation towards a cleaner and greener energy future. The event will host over 120 exhibitors and 150 national and international speakers, showcasing the growing global interest in green hydrogen and its role in the renewable energy landscape.
