During the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi, Mustafa Wajid, Co-Founder of BILLIONe and Managing Director of MEHER Group, expressed optimism about India's Green Hydrogen mission and its future impact on the transportation sector. The initiative, initially focused on industrial processes like steel and fertiliser industries, is expected to transition towards transportation, especially in larger vehicles for long-haul operations. Wajid emphasized the need for economic justification in any industrial activity, highlighting the logistic industry's cost sensitivity and the significance of green hydrogen's availability and affordability for widespread adoption. Furthermore, Wajid highlighted the rapid growth expected in electric vehicles (EVs) over the next few years, emphasizing the integration of green electricity with EVs for a sustainable transportation ecosystem. BILLIONe's efforts are directed towards reducing the reliance on fossil fuels, with a particular focus on electric trucks to address the substantial petrol and diesel consumption in India's transportation sector, which has tripled in the last three years due to urbanization, consumer trends, and the rise of e-commerce.
