John Cockerill Group and IIT Bombay have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on innovations in steel decarbonisation, green hydrogen technologies, and defence product development. This strategic partnership aims to leverage IIT Bombay's academic strength and John Cockerill's engineering expertise to address challenges in sustainability, clean energy, and national security. The collaboration will focus on joint research in steel decarbonisation technologies, green hydrogen, and advanced defence products, with the goal of creating new solutions for the global steel industry to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability. Additionally, the partners may establish Centres of Excellence for steel technology, green hydrogen, and defence product development in the future. Vivek Bhide, Regional President of India and Group Transformation Officer of John Cockerill, highlighted the significance of the MoU in co-creating innovative solutions for the steel, energy, and defence sectors. The partnership will also drive talent development through internships, doctoral programs, and faculty development, contributing to India's infrastructure, national security, and sustainability goals.
