In Prayagraj, India, the state government has implemented Geo-Tube technology to cleanse water from 23 untapped drains before it flows into the Ganga, ensuring it is suitable for spiritual rituals. Through a meticulous process involving the installation of pumps, mixing chemicals, and utilizing geo-tubes, the water undergoes treatment that significantly reduces the Biological Oxygen Demand and Total Suspended Solids levels. The purified water is further processed with hydrogen peroxide and ozonisation to eliminate faecal bacteria, making it safe for release into the river. This innovative approach not only ensures the water quality but also protects aquatic life by using ozonisation instead of chlorination. The waste collected during the purification process will be converted into fertiliser after proper treatment, promoting sustainability.
