JSW Energy has started the construction of a Battery Energy Storage Project (BESS) to enter the energy storage services business, allowing for the storage and release of renewable energy. The company was awarded a significant 1.0 GWh battery storage project by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), with the commissioning expected by June 2025. The project, developed under a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) mechanism, aims to enhance grid stability and integrate renewable energy sources.
Apart from the energy storage project, JSW Energy is also actively working on commercial-scale green hydrogen and steel ventures in India. The company has signed agreements with JSW Steel Ltd for green hydrogen and green oxygen supply, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2024-25. They have also been allotted a capacity under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program by SECI.
