The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has received the revolutionary iBooster green propulsion system from Mumbai-based deep-tech startup Manastu Space Technologies, marking a significant milestone in Indian space capabilities. The system, developed specifically for 100–500 kg satellites, facilitates crucial operations like orbit raising, station-keeping, and deorbiting through its proprietary hydrogen peroxide-based fuel, ensuring enhanced performance, safety, and sustainability compared to traditional toxic fuels. This achievement comes after four years of extensive research and development supported by DRDO's Technology Development Fund (TDF). The innovative features of the iBooster system include a safer and eco-friendly hydrogen peroxide-based fuel, an optimized thruster design for efficiency and precision, and a high-temperature catalyst for seamless ignition and endurance in space. The collaboration between Manastu Space and DRDO highlights the strength of innovation and the role of Indian startups in advancing aerospace capabilities, as stated by Tushar Jadhav, Co-founder of Manastu Space. Additionally, Manastu Space is preparing for a significant space test on an upcoming PSLV mission by ISRO, demonstrating the system's capabilities on a global platform and emphasizing India's leadership in sustainable space technologies.
