In Lucknow, India, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) unveiled an eco-friendly public transport system at the Maha Kumbh Mela. This initiative follows the successful operation of green hydrogen-fueled buses in Leh, including on the world's highest motorable road. The hydrogen bus, emitting only water vapor, boasts a remarkable range, with the ability to travel over 600km on a single tank of hydrogen. The project, promoting cleaner and more sustainable transportation, is set to expand its services from Greater Noida to various cities in Uttar Pradesh, offering a green alternative for public transport. NTPC's green hydrogen mobility project is not limited to Uttar Pradesh, as it plans to introduce similar services in Kandla and Bhubaneswar, contributing to the country's efforts in reducing emissions. Furthermore, NTPC is spearheading the development of the Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub in Andhra Pradesh, which is poised to become India's largest green hydrogen project. The shift towards green hydrogen is gaining momentum globally, with countries like China, several European nations, and India recognizing its potential as a sustainable solution for curbing emissions and promoting a cleaner environment.
