NTPC Green Energy Ltd. is embarking on the development of India's largest green hydrogen hub in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. The ambitious project, covering 1,200 acres, aims to commence operations within the next three years. With a focus on green hydrogen production, the facility is set to produce 1,100 tonnes daily, along with derivatives like green ammonia and sustainable aviation fuel. CEO Rajiv Gupta emphasizes the dual objective of meeting domestic demand and targeting export markets, particularly the European Union and Southeast Asia. The hub will support industrial development, with dedicated areas for manufacturing electrolysers, solar PV modules, and battery energy storage systems. While the core facilities are expected to be ready in three years, green hydrogen production may take an additional five to six years to start. NTPC Green Energy also plans to raise funds through an IPO to support the project and future expansions. The initiative aims to position India as a key player in the global green hydrogen market while addressing the need to reduce production costs for economic viability.
