Oil India Ltd has announced the establishment of its wholly-owned subsidiary, OIL Green Energy, to drive its green and alternative energy ventures. With a planned investment of Rs 25,000 crore by 2040, the company aims to diversify its energy portfolio and accelerate the transition to sustainable energy sources. OIL Green Energy will focus on various initiatives including biofuels, green hydrogen, renewable energy, CCUS, methanol, and geothermal energy. The company already boasts an installed renewable energy capacity of 188.1 MW, derived from wind and solar projects across multiple states. Noteworthy projects include India's first AEM technology-based green hydrogen plant and the development of the country's first hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle bus. Oil India Ltd's commitment to green energy is further exemplified by its plans to establish 25 CBG plants nationwide and its vision to become a diversified and integrated energy player.
