Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited Odisha, signifying a milestone in the growing partnership between the two regions. During the visit, eight MoUs were signed, including one for establishing a green hydrogen production facility in Odisha. This facility aims to produce 7.2 lakh metric tonnes of green hydrogen per year, creating over 2,000 employment opportunities. The collaborations between Singapore and Odisha extend to various sectors like urban planning, port management, logistics, green energy, and skill development. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed optimism about the expanding bilateral relationship, highlighting opportunities for increased collaboration. The visit also showcased Singapore's interest in Odisha's technical education initiatives and skill development efforts. The positive sentiment towards strengthening international partnerships for economic growth was emphasized, with plans for significant investments and discussions to strengthen relations in various sectors. The collaborations also include the development of an industrial park, a Petrochemical and Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR), and a new city near Bhubaneswar. Additionally, deals were signed for joint research in renewable energy technologies and energy storage systems, as well as for establishing a Global Competency Center (GCC) to foster the growth of the insurance technology industry in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
