Tata Motors has initiated the first-ever trials of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in India to drive the development of sustainable transportation solutions. The project, supported by the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aims to test 16 advanced vehicles equipped with hydrogen internal combustion engines and fuel cell technologies on major freight routes for up to 24 months. Government officials, including the Ministers of Road Transport and New and Renewable Energy, have endorsed the initiative, highlighting hydrogen's potential to reduce emissions and enhance energy self-reliance. Tata Motors' Executive Director praised the government's leadership in enabling the transition to clean energy and emphasized the company's commitment to green, zero-emission transportation. The hydrogen truck line-up, featuring models like the Tata Prima H.28 and Tata Prima H.55S, offers efficient and environmentally friendly transportation options operating within a 300-500 km range. These vehicles prioritize safety by incorporating driver-assist systems and premium cabins to enhance driver comfort and productivity.
