Tata Motors, a leading global automobile manufacturer based in Mumbai, has secured an additional order for 148 electric buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This order, managed by Tata's subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., includes the supply, operation, and maintenance of Tata Starbus EV 12-metre low-floor buses for a 12-year term. The Tata Starbus EVs are known for their cutting-edge design, zero-emission travel, and advanced battery systems, ensuring efficient intra-city mobility. Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions, emphasized the success of the Starbus EVs and commitment to innovation. BMTC's Managing Director also praised Tata's existing electric buses for their exceptional performance. Additionally, Tata Motors has made significant progress in advancing electric bus development in India, with plans to expand its electric bus fleet by 3,300 units by fiscal 2025. Financially, the company reported a decrease in revenue and profit after tax but maintained strong financial ratios. Tata Motors' contribution to sustainable urban mobility aligns with India's goal of adding 50,000 electric buses by 2027.
