Technip Energies has secured the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract from bp for the H2Teesside project in the North East of the United Kingdom. The project aims to be a significant low-carbon hydrogen production facility in the UK, coupled with carbon capture technology. Technip Energies will leverage its expertise in hydrogen and carbon capture technologies to deliver a comprehensive design for the project, paving the way for a final investment decision by 2025. If selected, the company will proceed with providing the full Engineering Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) package. The H2Teesside project is part of the East Coast Cluster and will be integrated with other decarbonisation initiatives in the region, with captured CO2 being directed to the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) gathering system. Mario Tommaselli of Technip Energies emphasized the company's capabilities as a technology integrator for large-scale projects. Andy Lane from bp highlighted the project's potential in decarbonising industry in Teesside, aiming to establish the region as a prominent hydrogen hub and boost the UK's low carbon hydrogen economy.
