Representatives of the U.S.-India Business Council recently engaged with the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New and Renewable Energy in New Delhi to discuss enhancing renewable energy technology supply chain resilience in India. The council highlighted the importance of technologies like solar, wind, and hydrogen for India's energy security and transition goals. Additionally, the US Ambassador announced a significant investment of $3.8 billion by the International Development Finance Corporation to support India's renewable energy and infrastructure objectives, as well as goals in agriculture, healthcare, and financial services. This investment aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors. The meeting also focused on the US-India Renewable Energy Technology Action Platform (RETAP) launched during PM Narendra Modi's visit to the US in 2023. The RETAP targets advancements in clean hydrogen, wind energy, energy storage, geothermal, ocean/tidal energy, and other emerging technologies. Discussions included topics such as hydrogen ecosystem development, energy storage, wind, geothermal, and marine renewable energy technologies. The deepening connections between cities like Los Angeles and Mumbai were also emphasized, showcasing the commitment to clean energy and sustainable practices in both countries.
