V.O.Chidambaranar Port in Chennai marked the 78th Independence Day of India with a grand celebration at the Port's School ground. The event began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Port's Chairperson, Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, who also took salute from various contingents and students. In his address, he emphasized the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the need to work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the nation's founders and the government's goals. The Port announced upcoming developments such as the conversion of Berth No. 9 into a Container terminal and the mechanization of North Cargo Berth-III. Additionally, the 'Request For Qualification' for the Outer Harbour project, initiated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, is under evaluation. Notably, the Port is pioneering the Green Hydrogen Pilot project, set to be completed by December 2025, aiming to enhance environmental sustainability. The celebration included an awards ceremony for Port officers, staff, and students, along with cultural performances and demonstrations.
