ADNOC Gas, in collaboration with Baker Hughes, has introduced the innovative LOOP technology at the Habshan Gas Processing Plant. The LOOP system captures carbon from methane, the primary component of natural gas, and converts it into valuable graphene and hydrogen. This partnership represents a significant step towards decarbonization, energy transition goals, and the UAE's climate ambitions. ADNOC Gas plans to leverage AI modeling and digital twin technology to enhance energy efficiency and maximize graphene output. The company envisions larger-scale implementations of the technology to yield up to 15 tonnes of graphene annually. Graphene, known for its strength and conductivity, has diverse applications across industries like electric vehicles, solar panels, and construction. Additionally, ADNOC Gas is expanding its LNG capabilities through the Ruwais LNG Project, which includes a new LNG facility in Abu Dhabi. The project, powered by clean energy, will double ADNOC's LNG capacity and utilize advanced technologies for safety, emissions reduction, and efficiency. ADNOC's increased budget for decarbonization initiatives reflects its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045 and eliminating methane emissions by 2030. This proactive approach underscores ADNOC's dedication to a sustainable energy future.
