Windcat, operating in the crew transfer vessel sector, a part of the Saverys family-controlled CMB.TECH, has collaborated with Anglo-Eastern, a Hong Kong-based ship manager, for the management of six commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) being built by Damen Shipyards. These CSOVs, a new venture for Windcat after two decades in the CTV business, are part of the 'Elevation Series' and will be constructed at the Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam. Noteworthy is that these 87-meter-long vessels will be powered by hydrogen dual-fuel engines, emphasizing a shift towards cleaner energy sources. With a capacity to house 120 individuals, the first of these innovative vessels is expected to be delivered in 2025. The CEO of Anglo-Eastern, Bjorn Hojgaard, expressed gratitude for the entrusted role in this groundbreaking project, highlighting the potential of hydrogen-powered offshore vessels in fostering a more sustainable maritime industry. Both Windcat and Anglo-Eastern are optimistic about the collaboration, underscoring a joint commitment to promoting environmentally-friendly practices in the maritime sector.
