Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, have officially formed a joint venture to drive renewable energy and green hydrogen initiatives in India. This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the country's energy transition and development goals by exploring opportunities in green ammonia production, bunkering solutions, and emissions reduction at ports. The collaboration leverages Sembcorp's expertise in renewables and BPCL's strength in petroleum and infrastructure. G. Krishnakumar, Chairman & Managing Director of BPCL, highlighted the alliance as a significant step towards a sustainable future, emphasizing BPCL's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. Vipul Tuli, President & CEO of Renewables at Sembcorp, reiterated the focus on advancing renewable energy and green hydrogen development in India, aiming to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors.
