Bulgaria and Oman are moving towards strengthening their energy ties by preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) within the next two months. The MoU will aim to enhance bilateral cooperation in energy sectors such as oil and gas, hydrogen, renewable energy, and potentially Omani investments in Bulgaria. Minister Malinov highlighted the importance of securing Bulgaria's energy supply and mentioned plans for importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman to address winter energy needs. Minister Al Aufi expressed interest in Bulgaria's expertise in pumped storage hydropower plants for storing energy from renewable sources. The discussions also revolved around the potential collaboration in hydrogen energy, with a focus on Bulgaria's role as a gateway for hydrogen to Europe. A joint project with Greece to build a hydrogen interconnector, recognized as a Project of Common Interest by the EU, was mentioned. This MoU will serve as a foundation for advancing energy relations between the two countries.
