The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has unveiled a strategic plan to shift the country's energy landscape from traditional fossil fuels to a mix of biological, synthetic, and hydrogen fuels by 2050. This initiative is designed to align Israel's economic growth with global climate goals and modernization efforts. Key objectives of the plan include ensuring reliable fuel supply across all economic sectors, enhancing emergency preparedness in fuel distribution, and expanding the production and usage of green fuels. To support the transition, Israel plans to close down major oil refineries in Haifa Bay, transition to imported petroleum distillates, and establish several hydrogen fueling stations by 2030. Additionally, the plan emphasizes the adoption of transport electrification alongside the utilization of hydrogen power, synthetic fuels, and biofuels to achieve a remarkable 96% reduction in CO2 emissions from the transportation sector by 2050. This comprehensive strategy reflects Israel's commitment to sustainability and energy innovation in the coming decades.
