Jordan is making significant strides towards establishing itself as a hub for green hydrogen production, as highlighted by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh. The country aims to lead the region in sustainable energy, with plans to transition to green hydrogen and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. To achieve this vision, Jordan has signed multiple agreements with international firms and is collaborating with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the World Bank Group (WBG) to improve infrastructure and regulatory frameworks. The country's National Hydrogen Strategy outlines ambitious targets for renewable energy and hydrogen production, with a goal to generate 47GW of renewable energy and produce 3.4MMTPA of hydrogen by 2050. The project includes engaging stakeholders, attracting investments that could reach $28 billion by 2030, and focusing on building a comprehensive infrastructure to support green hydrogen production and export.
