Kuwait Oil Company, a key player in the oil & gas sector, has engaged KBR to assist in the development of a comprehensive strategy for the integration of renewables and hydrogen into its operations. This move is part of Kuwait Oil Company's 2040 strategy, which aims to diversify its energy sources. The company plans to produce 17GW of renewables and 25GW of green hydrogen by 2050, a significant step towards sustainability. KBR will work on creating a masterplan that includes the deployment of wind and solar power, alongside power storage capabilities, while linking these renewable sources to green hydrogen production for both internal and export purposes. This initiative highlights Kuwait's commitment to a cleaner energy future and marks a major shift towards sustainable practices in the region. Jay Ibrahim, President of Sustainable Technology Solutions at KBR, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing KBR's advisory capabilities in facilitating energy transition investments at a national level. The project is expected to span 18 months and will involve detailed market analysis, feasibility studies, and a comprehensive roadmap. With KBR's global presence and extensive experience in energy projects, this collaboration signifies a significant milestone in Kuwait's journey towards a greener and more sustainable energy landscape.
