The Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has unveiled a draft Green Hydrogen Policy targeting a substantial 100 KTPA production capacity of green hydrogen and ammonia by 2030. This policy extension under the 'Punjab Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022' offers attractive incentives to new green hydrogen ventures and expansions of existing units. The incentives range from exemptions on various charges like electricity duty, land use conversion charges, stamp duty, and transmission costs to ensure economic viability and competitiveness. Additionally, the policy proposes capital subsidies for specific projects including biomass-to-green hydrogen ventures, hydrogen-based fuel cell vehicles, industries utilizing green hydrogen, and hydrogen refueling stations. Notably, the policy introduces exemptions on energy-related charges and transmission costs to enhance the economic feasibility of green hydrogen production in Punjab. It also aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission initiated by the Indian government, which includes pilot projects for hydrogen utilization in buses, trucks, and steel production. With a focus on sustainability and industrial development, Punjab's ambitious green hydrogen policy aims to address environmental concerns while promoting the adoption of green energy in the region.
