Saudi Arabia is seeking to collaborate with Italy to export green energy and hydrogen to Europe as part of its efforts to reduce reliance on traditional oil and gas sources. The Saudi Investment Minister discussed this partnership at a business conference in Milan, recognizing Italy's significance in facilitating the export of low-carbon products like green hydrogen. With a focus on expanding low-carbon production, Saudi Arabia aims to produce blue and green hydrogen through different methods, such as water electrolysis powered by renewable energy and natural gas conversion with CO2 capture. To ensure success, the kingdom is looking for trustworthy partners in the evolving hydrogen market. Investment in crucial infrastructure like ports and pipelines is highlighted to enable the transportation of green energy to Europe. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia plans to extend its partnerships to other European nations like Germany to identify potential customers and bolster trade relations. Italy's engagement in hydrogen infrastructure schemes, including a joint project with Germany and Austria for a hydrogen pipeline, aligns with the EU's target to boost green hydrogen production and reduce carbon emissions.
