Thyssenkrupp Nucera and Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom) have joined forces to explore the establishment of facilities in Oman dedicated to producing electrolysers, marking a significant step towards advancing the green hydrogen sector in the region. In the presence of Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Thyssenkrupp Nucera signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to potentially set up assembly and service hubs in Oman, reinforcing its commitment to the Middle East. Dr. Werner Ponikwar, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Nucera, expressed confidence in their ability to contribute to a successful green hydrogen sector in Oman, leveraging their expertise in the electrolysis business. Abdulaziz Said Al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom, shared the organization's ambition for Oman to become a leading global green hydrogen hub, highlighting the collaboration with Thyssenkrupp Nucera as a significant step towards achieving this goal. The International Energy Agency's research predicts that Oman, along with the UAE and Morocco, is poised to surpass their hydrogen production capacities by 2030, indicating a promising future for the industry's development. This partnership between Thyssenkrupp Nucera and Hydrom sets the stage for innovation and growth in green hydrogen production in Oman, aligning with global efforts to transition towards sustainable energy sources.
