TotalEnergies has acquired a 50% stake in RWE's 795MW offshore wind farm with plans to produce 40,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. Following its success in winning the Dutch Hollandse Kust West VII tender, TotalEnergies intends to allocate part of the renewable electricity generated from this project for 350MW electrolyser projects. By utilizing green hydrogen from the OranjeWind project, TotalEnergies aims to decarbonize its European refineries by replacing grey hydrogen currently used. Positioned 53km off the Dutch coast, the wind farm is also expected to enhance the stability of the Dutch grid. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, leading to full operation in 2028. This strategic move aligns with TotalEnergies' commitment to renewable energy and signifies a significant step towards a greener energy future.
