Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) has taken a pioneering step in the railway industry by introducing two hydrogen fueling stations for locomotives in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada. These innovative stations, equipped with cutting-edge technology for hydrogen generation, compression, and storage, serve as a significant advancement towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability. With 1 MW electrolyzers on-site, these stations can produce hydrogen efficiently, with the Calgary facility even utilizing solar energy from CPKC's 5 MW solar power plant. The collaboration with ATCO EnPower not only facilitated the completion of this project but also ensured the smooth operation of the stations. CPKC's initiative to retrofit locomotives with hydrogen-powered modules showcases a commitment to environmentally friendly practices and aligns with modern sustainability standards.
